Fig. 1 — Looking east from the Overlook Mountain spur, a few miles north of course. Taken by a volunteer on a scouting run, March 2024.

Fig. 3 — Looking south from Slide Mountain, the course high point. Weather is rarely this clear on race morning.
Fig. 4 — A quiet stretch of the Woodland Valley approach in early October. By race weekend the canopy is usually still green.
